Captain Lewis "Nix, Lew" Nixon is an American soldier from 1944. He is a cynic who can lean toward egotism from time to time, from a very wealthy family. Case in point: Somewhere in the wilds of New Jersey, there is a town. It is called Nixon.
Yale-educated, well-traveled Nix volunteered to jump out of airplanes and be shot at. He has that same streak of insanity that all paratroopers do, but he has his own unique brand of it as well, which usually appears in the form of sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm. He's not cocky. He's confident. He is married, has one child, one dog, and drinks like a fish - purely VAT 69 (http://www.scotchwhisky.net/blended/vat_69.htm).
Nixon is handsome, of average height and weight, with brown eyes, black hair, and a square jaw. He is clean-shaven, though tends toward stubble when he can get away with it. He wears either impeccable dress uniform or World War II-era combat fatigues. If he's wearing brown fatigues, this includes: jumpboots, bloused trousers (tucked into the tops of his boots), jacket with Screaming Eagles patch and captain's bars, helmet with no rank insignia, and the M-1 rifle over his shoulder. He carries a number of other objects – flask, canteen, knife, rations, extra ammo, service weapon, etc. – but those are the most obvious. Uniform: this picture (http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o160/somewhereovereurope/bob_promo004.jpg) (with a different rifle) and this picture (http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o160/somewhereovereurope/promo007.jpg).
What is Nix doing in the U.S. Army, and in the 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division in particular? You'll get a different answer every time you ask him. He is Regimental S-2, a sharp and dependable intelligence officer, but can usually be found with Easy Company, shoulder-to-shoulder with the company commander, Captain Dick Winters. When he enters Milliways Bar, Nix is with the 101st in Europe.
This is meant in no way to reflect the real Captain Nixon. This journal represents the miniseries character, not the real man. No disrespect is meant to the memory of Captain Nixon or to his family. Lewis Nixon is from the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. He appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in Milliways Bar and A Company of Heroes, from which no profit whatsoever is being made. Ron Livingston also does not belong to me.
